My toddler was diagnosed at 21 months. I am a nutritional therapist so you would think I would see the signs but I was in denial as his mum. Lolo went into DKA two days after mother's day when 111 said take him to A&E. For mother's day i went a scuba dive for my mum who had passed away to pancreatic cancer. Little did I know my sons pancreas was struggling. I thought he was potentially having behavioural difficulties. In a strange way I was relieved it was diabetes and not that he was struggling to communicate. The irony is his name is Lolo Thornton.
HI Samantha thank you for sharing your story, what an incredibly hard time for you all it must of been with so many emotions of loosing your mum too. I know what you mean about the behavioural flags, I look back at franklins pre diagnosis and can totally relate, at 21 months too lots of new discoveries and changes so you'd never know.
x love the irony too x lol hope you're all getting on ok? x
