Our beautiful baby boy, Noah, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes aged 11 months (he's now 6). We’ve learned a lot since then! But we’ve found very little information on how to manage diabetes with a baby. We have a fantastic diabetes team supporting us from the LGI but it’s the little baby specific things that happen where we’re unsure if it’s usual and what to do next. Some of our questions from the first few days at home… how do you de-poop a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) sensor, does teething cause high blood glucose levels, how do you get a baby back to sleep after waking them up during a nighttime hypo??… So we thought we’d write a blog to raise awareness of diabetes in babies, shed some light on the issues we’ve been facing to hopefully help other parents and get some advice from others who have already been through this!
